Gormancraft is a family business in upstate New York that has been creating fine woodworks for over 30 years. We make things. Here you can explore the quality and care that we put into every project.
Barry Gorman began custom woodworking at a young age. At 12, he built a pine box-shelf, a simple exercise, but one that set his creativity into motion. By his early twenties, he was approached to make 500 collapsible reindeer for a department store. By his late twenties, he was working as a contractor and building kitchens for some of the well-to-do estate holders on Lake Champlain.
Today, his two sons, Chris and Matt, have joined him, bringing their own expertise to the family business. Chris builds resilient and attractive Viking shields as well as delicate and precision carving. Matt, meanwhile, has built his skill around the lathe, and he makes fine churchwarden pipes and other turnings.
